Homeschool Baseball

Thank you for taking the time to check us out.  The 2017-18 school year will be our seventeenth year of competition, and we are excited about this year’s club!  Richmond Patriots baseball, under the auspices of the Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, has grown since Coach Gregg Tobey started the program, and now includes middle school, junior varsity, and varsity teams.  Our purpose is to use baseball to assist our players to become men of integrity and Christ-like character who will honor Jesus Christ in all they do, be responsible, become leaders, and make a difference for Him in the world.  With third and fourth place finishes in the 2009 and 2013 HWSA tournaments, the coaches, players, and parents are grateful for the success God has allowed the program to enjoy over the years.

The following may answer frequently asked questions regarding Patriots Baseball.

*Although players from all faiths are welcome, we explicitly coach and teach from a Christian world view.
Pre-game prayer and post-game devotions are an important part of our program.

*As is the case in public and private high school sports, all decisions regarding playing time, positions played, etc. are the responsibility of the coaches. There are no guarantees of playing time at the varsity level, but a more developmental philosophy is employed in the JV and middle school program.

*Please respond to group emails in a timely fashion; respect deadlines.

*We emphasize “The Big Three”: positive speech patterns, positive attitudes, and hustle.

*We need parents to volunteer for various responsibilities; please step-up and ask “how can I serve the organization?”

*During the season, Patriots Baseball takes precedent over all other baseball activities, including recreational and travel ball, at all levels.  Varsity players should not play on any other team during the playing season.

*Off-season training/practice is crucial, to our teams’ success. committing to winter training is required.
